Museum Holds Fossil Fiesta for Smithsonian Museum Day

For Immediate Release: September 5, 2019 (Albuquerque, New Mexico) -- The New Mexico Museum of Natural History & Science is co-hosting a free Fossil Fiesta in Farmington on September 21^st from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. with the Farmington Public Library. The Fossil Fiesta will be held at the Farmington Public Library at 2101 Farmington Avenue. Fiesta activities include a virtual reality experience, Smithsonian developed activities using fossils to learn about the prehistoric past and a chance to meet paleontologists from the New Mexico Museum of Natural History & Science.

The free Fossil Fiesta will take place on Museum Day, September 21, at the Farmington Library. Each year Smithsonian Magazine celebrates Museum Day by offering free admission to visitors across the country to select Museums. Participants can get a free admission for two people by presenting a Museum Day ticket. Tickets are available at  www.smithosonianmag.com  Last year over 1.2 million visitors participated in Museum Day across the country.

The Museum will also host a second free Fossil Fiesta in Albuquerque on October 6^th at the New Mexico Museum of Natural History & Science from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. These free public events are made possible by a lineage grant from the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History.
