Palace Seen and Unseen Opening Postponed

(Santa Fe, New Mexico) --- The opening of Palace Seen and Unseen, a new, long-term exhibit opening at the New Mexico History Museum, has been postponed. The Palace of the Governors is a National Historic Landmark located on the campus of the New Mexico History Museum. The building has been undergoing rehabilitation in accordance with the Secretary of Interior Standards for Treatment of Historic Properties.

Due to unforeseen circumstances, this work is taking longer than anticipated. As a result, installation of the “Palace Seen and Unseen” exhibition is being postponed until its gallery space is ready for use. We regret any disappointment this may cause the public.

As this project moves forward, every effort will be made to continue access to the building through guided tours. Anyone wishing to participate in a tour should sign up at the History Museum’s front desk or make a reservation by calling (505) 476-5200.

Once opened, the exhibit will delve into the 400-year history of Palace of the Governors (1609-present) through its physical presence, important documents, and archaeological investigations. The exhibition explores the relationship between the building and its residents and visitors. Stories are told from the perspective of robberies, governors and people behind the scenes vividly bringing the adobe building and its grounds to life.
