Introducing ’Our Fair New Mexico’

April 9th, 2020

The New Mexico Department of Cultural Affairs (DCA), in partnership with our state museums, historic sites, and cultural institutions, announces a series of virtual concerts – Our Fair New Mexico – featuring musicians living in New Mexico on Friday evenings, beginning April 10, 2020.

As the divisions of DCA continue to operate online during its temporary closures to the public, the Department is pleased to bring the musical sounds of the state directly to your home through social media.

The first concert, brought to you by the Museum of International Folk Art, will feature New Mexico State Historian Rob Martinez. Born and raised in Albuquerque, Rob comes from a family with a deep history of New Mexican music. His father founded Los Reyes de Albuquerque, a mariachi/Nuevo Mexicano group that performed throughout the country. Rob’s brother Lorenzo is a nationally recognized folk/mariachi violinist who has performed with Rob at the Santa Fe Bandstand, Nuestra Musica at the Lensic Theater in Santa Fe, and ¡Globalquerque! at the National Hispanic Cultural Center in Albuquerque.

Rob uses his love of music and history to promote and preserve New Mexican culture.
