New DCA Portal is Your Connection to Fun and Engaging Cultural Programming

SANTA FE – The New Mexico Department of Cultural Affairs (DCA) has unveiled a new and improved website, making it easier for visitors to connect to enriching programming online.
The gateway for these programs can be found at www.newmexicoculture.org. Among some of the highlights on the website is a lineup of experiences for all ages.
To help parents keep children engaged at home, Summer Youth Programs related to the DCA are now being offered in a virtual environment. These include fun, educational activity kits to be done with the assistance of online instruction, as well as other projects aimed at stimulating young minds while school is out of session.
Teachers can supplement their summer school lesson plans by inviting a DCA educator into their virtual classrooms. Find out about traditional sheep herding, uncover what an archaeologist does, learn how women won the right to vote in Spanish-speaking countries, and explore the diversity of southwest pottery, textiles, paintings, and jewelry.
The virtual music concert series Our Fair New Mexico, in partnership with state museums, historic sites, and cultural institutions, is keeping state residents entertained. Featuring at least one performance each week by musicians of various genres living in New Mexico, these concerts are filmed mostly at DCA-affiliated institutions and can be viewed online via Facebook.
How are you coping with mostly staying at home during this time of social distancing? The New Mexico History Museum would like to know. The museum is asking for contributions from New Mexicans to its Quarantine Diaries series to share on social media.
Visitors to www.newmexicoculture.org are also encouraged to check out exhibitions, collections, and other educational resources with virtual visits to many of the 15 state museums and historic sites, the New Mexico State Library, New Mexico Arts, Historic Preservation Division, and the Office of Archaeological Studies.
