Marilyn Bridges (American, 1948- )

Marilyn Bridges, a native of New Jersey, received her M.F.A. from the Rochester Institute of Technology in 1981. Her work in aerial photography began during a 1976 travel assignment in Peru, where she photographed the Nazca lines. Known for her photographs of ruins, ancient ritual earth drawings and mounds, and modern American constructs, Bridges seeks to evoke the spirit in which these places were conceived. Licensed to fly single and multiple engine planes, she has used this skill to further her photography, working in Peru, the Yucatan, Egypt, Great Britain, Greece, and Native-American sites, and photographing modern swimming pools, factories, freeways, the Statue of Liberty, and the Chrysler Building.
