Las Posadas Reception Relocated to Portal of Palace of the Governors

(Santa Fe, New Mexico) --The reception following this year’s annual Las Posadas on the Santa Fe Plaza will be held under the portal of the Palace of the Governors at the New Mexico History Museum. The public is welcomed to enjoy hot cider, cookies and carols at the conclusion of the annual pageant. Typically held in the courtyard of the Palace of the Governors, the relocation of the reception is in an abundance of caution related to a tree damaged during recent winds.
The New Mexico History Museum supports the efforts of several Northern New Mexico communities who, for more than 40 years, have jointly present the annual Las Posadas commemoration on Santa Fe Plaza. This version of an old Hispanic tradition, celebrated around the world, recreates Mary and Joseph’s search for a place of refuge where the Baby Jesus would be born.
History Museum officials are working with several companies to assess the damage to the cottonwood to determine a prudent course of action
Las Posadas is this Sunday, Dec. 8, from 5:30 – 7 p.m. The History Museum will close at 3 p.m. to prepare for this free event.
