¡Aquí Estamos! New Selections from the NHCC Art Museum Permanent Collection

March 11th, 2020

(Albuquerque, New Mexico) — A new exhibition opening at the National Hispanic Cultural Center Art Museum, celebrates NHCC’s expansive and growing permanent collection. The exhibition titled, ¡Aquí Estamos! New Selections for the Permanent Collection features select pieces from the Art Museum’s permanent collection which currently contains approximately 3000 artworks from around the globe. The exhibition runs through 2022.

Each artwork reflects the diversity of the Latina/o/x experience in its vibrant creativity. Using a variety of approaches and media, the artists illustrate the complex intersections of identity and demonstrate that there is no one way to create art that exemplifies what it means to be Hispanic, Chicana/o, and/or Latina/o/x.

Every few years, the NHCC Art Museum refreshes its exhibit of artworks that showcase the breadth of the permanent collection. This iteration will present some new twists, a variety of perspectives on the collection, and never seen before artworks!

The opening reception for ¡Aquí Estamos! is Saturday, March 28, from 3 – 5 p.m. The public is welcome at the reception to celebrate the artists and the museum’s growing collection. There will be music and refreshments, and it is a free, family-friendly, public event!
